Old Mundulla Vineyard

This South Australian vineyard is located one kilometre from the village of Mundulla, 35 kilometres north east of Padthaway and 15 kilometres south east of Bordertown in South Australia and is part of the Limestone Coast wine area that includes Coonawarra.

The area around Mundulla has been a rich and successful cereal and wool growing area since the 1880’s and with potatoes, Lucerne and small seed crops that benefit from the underground water resources of the area. The Mundulla property has a large water right for irrigation of the vineyard and because of the specific location of the vineyard on the aquifer the water quality is better than surrounding properties.

The 270 hectare vineyard was planted in 1999/2000 and is wholly planted to red varieties including shiraz, cabernet, merlot and petit verdot. The vineyard is managed by Australian Vintage Limited (previously McGuigan Simeon Wines) who also purchase all of the fruit from the property.
